The time and environment we live in has a major influence on what we eat, drink and breathe, it all has a direct connection with our body’s complex systems. The chemical process in our body is responsible for our feelings, our inclinations to do things – our awareness of the qualitative nature of our senses.
I'm interested in investigating to what extent can I make autonomous decisions? Is it the chemical process in my body making the decisions and to what extend am I going on native instinct? Do I feel different and do I make different choises when I for example imitate a gather and hunter diet?
In my artistic process I investigate and comment on human behavior, evolution and native instinct. Notably as a comment on the society of today.
Based in Amsterdam
As a specialist in jewelry making I have a preference to work with material with my own hands.
My affinity with craftsmanship is what defines my work.
Because jewelry is worn in contact with the body I choose to work only with sustainable skin-friendly materials like porcelain, stoneware ceramic, 925 quality silver, gold or RVS steel. In my work as an artist or designer my affinity to process material with my own hands therefore my affinity with craftsmanship holds an important position. The clay I always shape by hand giving a certain quality and this makes every object unique and slightly different: my approach is to work in dialog with the material.
